Persuasive Grade Paper

Some people dream of success, while others wake up and work hard for it. Some people strive to reach their goals and dreams. You have to work hard in life to get where you want to go. Success is not one of those things that is going to be handed to you. You have to personally strive towards it. You have to put your all into it to get a result. I deserve an “A” in your class because I was always prepared and I always gave my all in your class.

Now, you may think that I only deserve a “B”. I understand that I may have talked a little more than I should have been during class. But, most of the time I was discussing something that had to do with our work, or asking a question on an activity we were working on. Therefore, I technically did nothing wrong, resulting in the fact that I still deserve an “A”.

Coming to class everyday with your basic supplies is common sense. I had all of my needed supplies for your class. Also, I constantly had completed homework for class. I always had my book when you asked us to bring it. I always had a pencil. I always had paper. I was always prepared and ready to work hard.

I worked extremely hard in your class. I went above and beyond on my homework. For instance, you asked us to write an acrostic poem on our first name. I went above and beyond by doing my full name, not just my first name. That is showing that I was willing to work hard in your class, which indeed, I did. It showed that I worked hard on my blog, for the fact that I got three “Blogger of the week” awards. I always added extra effort into our blogs, trying to make it look nice. In fact, I actually did this on everything in your class.

Now, you know that I worked hard in your class. You know that I put in a enormous amount of effort into your class and all of the projects that we did. I deserve an “A” in your class for the fact that I was always, persistently prepared and for the fact that I gave my all and tried my hardest in your class!

My favorite thing in the world is rain,
You know its coming when the thunder sounds,

The Hunger Games

If I were in the position that Katniss Everdeen is in, which would be possible considering that we are the same age, I would be absolutely terrified. Katniss is only fifteen years old, and she is on her way to fight to the death with other kids, her own age. The fact that she is only fifteen years old is heartbreaking. She is about to die, and she knows it.

I’m surprised that Primrose Everdeen was the name that was called when they said, out of the girls, who was going to their death sentence. Primrose is only twelve, way too young to have to fight for survival. Expecting a twelve-year-old to fight others to the death, and win, is simply unrealistic. Twelve-year-olds shouldn’t even be involved in this.

I was reminded of my little brother, when Prim was called up, and Katniss took her place instead. I would gladly take the place of my little brother if I was in this situation. I love my little brother too much to let him go through that. Katniss was brave, and did the right thing when she traded places with Prim.

I’m surprised that Katniss is getting along so well with Peeta Mellark. Considering the fact that she later on in the book, has to kill him to keep herself in the games and stay alive, in my opinion, she shouldn’t be talking so friendly to him. She is just making the whole situation with him much more complicated than it has to be.

I wonder what the outcome of the novel will be with Katniss’ situation. I wonder what will happen to Prim. I wonder what will happen to Katniss and Prim’s mother. I wonder what will happen to Gale. I wonder if Katniss will survive. I wonder if she will be able to come home. I wonder if Peeta will die. I wonder if Katniss will have the guts to kill Peeta to protect herself. I wonder if anything will ever be the same again.

Dear Madre and Daddy:

You both have told me a numerous amount of times that I cannot get my bellybutton pierced, but what would you say to let me get my ears double pierced? Now, you may not like the idea at first, but I really think you need to listen to what I have to say. I want my ears double pierced because that way I can wear more earrings than I already do and also it doesn’t cost very much money.

Now, I know I ask for a lot, but now, I am not asking for much. Also, it may cost a little bit of money but it is only for the earrings. The piercing itself is free of charge. I would prefer not, but if you really want to, you guys can put this towards one of my Christmas gifts!

You guys are always telling me to wear more of my earrings or to, “change it up a bit.” So, I figured that if I go and get my ears pierced once more, that way I can wear double the earrings that I already wear! This way, I will get more use out of all of my earrings. I already have like 500 earrings, this way I can wear them all! Double piercings would be a great thing because that would lead to more earrings being used.

Another reason why I want my ears pierced again is because it is something that I have always wanted. I am not really asking for much here. Getting my bellybutton pierced is one story, but getting my ears double pierced is another thing. Ears piercings do not even compare to bellybutton rings. This way, you don’t have to spend that much money on me, I mean, unless you really want to!

Therefore, I should be allowed to get my ears double pierced because it is cheap, and I will get fantastic use out of all of my other earrings that I don’t wear as much. Also, it can go towards my Christmas list. I can also accessorize better this way. After listening to this awesome speech, I will leave it up to you. The decision is yours, double piercings, or a bellybutton ring?! ;)

Ceaser’s Speech

                Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer. This is an extremely true statement, my friends. Those, whom you may think are your friends, may truly be your worst enemies. Those who I thought were my best and closest friends were actually backstabbing liars. I came back today to discuss with you all on why you need to choose your friends wise. You need to take time and figure out who your real friends are because friends need to be truthful and trustworthy, not liars and cheaters.

                Many may think that you do not need friends. Many may think that you can be alone constantly. Many may think that you can be a loner. Many may think that you do not need anyone there. Many may think that you don’t need anyone to talk to and that maybe, you’re better off on your own. But others may think that that is not true at all. Other people might believe that you always need someone there, someone by your side, someone to just be there when you need it most. And this is true, because you will go insane without someone to talk to and without friends; true friends.

                All traits that you all should look for in a true friend are for them to be truthful, trustworthy, honest, loyal, accepting, and selfless and a good influence.  According to Cassius, “A friend should bear his friend’s infirmities” (IIII.iii.85). Basically, Cassius is stating that friends should be there for each other, friends need to have their friend’s backs. Friends need to be able to trust each other. Friends need to be someone that you can always count on. Antony, for example, was one of my best friends. I could always count on him for everything, and he was always there for me. I could always trust him, regardless of the situation. This is what every single soul needs to know, and then act on.

                Lying, cheating, betraying, backstabbing, jealous, violent, abusive, bad influences are not at all, whatsoever, good people to choose for your friends. You may think that they are good people until you really get to know them. I, personally, thought and truly believed that Brutus was my best friend. Seconds before leaving this world, I stated, “Et tu Brute” (III.i.77)? In other words, I believed that Brutus was a loyal friend, but I was clearly mistaken. The reason why I am speaking today, is to make sure, none of you have to go through what I did. I love the people of Rome too much to just sit around and watch this happen again.

                As said before, know the difference between your friends and enemies and make sure, never turn your back to them. You don’t know what can cone out of it.  For instance, look what happened to me! Knowing the difference between your true friends and enemies, can make the worlds a difference. Knowing the difference between your true friends and enemies can change your life. Knowing the difference between your true friends and enemies, can even save a life. So all I am saying, my fellow Romans is, choose your friends extremely wise.

               

A regular conversation

Calphurnia: My husband is just so annoying sometimes!
Portia: So is mine!
Calphurnia: I think he may be cheating on me..
Portia: Really? He wouldnt dare, would he?
Calphurnia: I believe he is.
Portia: Well that is just down right horrible.
Calphurnia: I think he is just using me..what do you think?
Portia: I'm not quite sure. But I had a horrific dream last night.
Calphurnia: About what?
Portia: Ceaser, my love, getting murdered. It was very bad. They murdered him and washed themsevles with his very own blood. I awoke screaming to Ceaser. I think it was a sign, so I simply told Ceaser not to leave me.
Calphurnia: And? What did he say?!
Portia: Well at first, he argued in his defense. So I pleaded, and he decided to obey my "wish" and stayed home with me. I fret that something bad will happen, and my dream may become reality.
Calphurnia: Don't worry! Everything will be fine, once the men in our lives start acting like grown men and not boys.
Portia: I agree!

No school please!

Dr. Berry,

                Surely you have been in our position when you were a kid. Getting a snow day, and then the school district is considering adding on days to the end of the school year. No kid wants the extra school days leading into their summer freedom.  Therefore, you should not add on any extra days to the end of the school year because, it will upset students and what can we really accomplish in the amount of time?

                Some people believe that adding on days to the end of the school year will keep their children out of trouble. Others say that we need the extra time in school. While actually, keeping students in school will benefit nothing. Also, although you would add on a couple of days to the end of the school year, nothing can be accomplished in that amount of time frame.

                Upset students and teachers is what you will get if you add on extra days to our school year. Going into our summer, students just want to relax and have fun. We are all already going to be jumping from the walls by the time we are originally supposed to get out of school. Adding on days will just make us all the more anxious. It will be as if we are in jail if we have to drag ourselves out of bed and into the school building and just sit there, hopeless, for eight hours. It will be pointless and a waste of time.

                Two days is not even enough time to learn anything new. Now, I am not implying that no learning will go on and that we cannot learn anything new, I am saying that there is just not enough time to learn a whole new lesson. Teachers do not want to plan it, and students honestly do not want to learn it. Two days is not enough time for anything, so Dr. Berry, why even bother adding on the extra days?

                If you really do not want to upset students, teachers and possibly even some parents, then I advise and beg of you not to add of any other days. Our school district is extremely educated as it is. A few extra days should not make a difference on how educated we are going to get this year alone. A few days. That is all we are asking of you, is a few days off, instead of adding a few days to our school year. So I ask that you please consider not adding on any extra days at the end of the school year.

Sticks and Stones

            You normally go into a high school and hear rumors, right? Well they're trypically about how someone did something mean or who is dating who. In the novel Sticks and Stones, Jujube, a freshamn in high school, the main character, goes to a school dance with a boy named Brent. Everything went very well on the date and Jujube was satisfied. The next day at school, everyone of Brent's friends were laughing and making jokes about how she was now "a woman" when Jujube walked into the classroom. Confsed, Jujube goes to sit down next to her friend Carlos, who rarely talks. Carlos explains to her how words has to that her and Brent did the "dirty deed" on Friday night.

            Furious, Jujube tries to ignore the ridiculous rumors and play along like it was just a big joke. After about a week of this not exactly working and it getting worse, Jujube tells her "sister", Sophie, a senior who stays with her because her mother moves out to live with her husband after he gets out of jail for beating Sophie, Jujube explains to her what is going on. Sophie later explains how once she moved in with Jujube and her mother, she got rumors spread about her too. The next day at school, Jujube finds writings on the bathroom and locker walls, saying that Jujube is a SLUT, and Jujube is joining the family bussiness. Horrified at this, Jujube tells her mom, who drives to the school to tare the Principal to pieces. After doing so, he insitis that the school does not have the money to remove the writing right now, but that they will figure something out.
                In English class, an assignment on communication is assigned. Jujube and Carlos have the perfect idea that vandalisim is a huge part of communication, especially in high school. Jujbe and Carlos go around school taking pictures of all the writings. They then put together a slide show, and Brent, along with the rest of the class, sit in silence as they watch the slide show. The writings are later taken down by the school. And, now that Jujube and Carlos are dating, Brent comes to apologize saying that he did not start the rumors, that he just did not stop them. After telling Brent off, he leaves and no one bothers Jujube again. Sticks and Stones is a fantastic novel written by Beth Goobie. It is so true that rumors happen everyday, and most of the time, they are as fake as you can get. I give this novel four out of five hearts  ----> ♥♥♥♥

A moment in time.

A moment in time; that's all photos really are. Some are boring and pointless, while others can flush your mind with momories. Sometimes those momeries are good, sometimes, bad. My two favorite pictures are particuarly the two I posted. They are both of my brothers and I. One is of my older brother, Mike and I when I had just come home from the hospital and he told my mom, repeatedly, how happy he was that he finally had his "own baby". The other picture is of my younger brother, Chris and I. I am hugging him lovingly and he is smiling like never beofre. Chris is my best friend. I love my brothers so unbeielveably much; it is uncomprehendable. I do not know how I would survive without them. They are my body guards, as well as my best friends. Lets just say, without them, life would suck.

Reason why defendant should not be kicked out.

"The privacy of public office, the publicity of private life." The difference of what you think is private, and what you is truly private, is an outrageous difference. The fact the my client posted the picture she had taken with the plecanta, on Facebook, on her private page, she did not expect it to be a big deal. At the time she took this photograph, her teacher clearly said, after being asked permission to take the picture; "Oh, you girls," which is not at all, a clear or straight forward answer. Therefore, my client took the picture, and posted it, where she did no harm on her page. Also, when asked to remove the photo, she did, only three hours after she posted the picture. You have no right to kick her out of school for this. There is no rule stated that you can get kicked out for a photograph taken; therefore, my client has the right to stay in school.

POW #1: So many names!

Kattherine Elizabeth Cleary. That is my full name. Funny thing about it, is I truthfully did not know how to spell my full name until sixth grade. I was named after my great great grandma, Katherine Elizabeth. I have a good amount of nick names! Katie, being one of them, is what I like to go by. Some others, that I may or may not prefer are, Kate, Kate monster, Hiccups, Katiebug, Bugsy, Little Cindy Loo Hoo, Katy Perry, Dimples, Dimple woman; and the list goes on. After looking up my name out of curiousity, I discovered that there is an actress named Katie Cleary. But I'd rather not be compared to anyone else, just myself!
